We believe that educating our community on human trafficking is a powerful tool to eradicate trafficking right here in Northeast Ohio.
All trainings are completely free and open to the public. All you have to do is register online at rahab-ministry.org/community-trainings.
We host trainings on a multitude of topics, including human trafficking 101, trauma bonding, needs and vulnerabilities, trauma-informed language, and self-care.
Who Should Take These Trainings?
What many people do not realize is that you don’t have to be a direct car provider to receive training on human trafficking or even interact with survivors of trafficking. Without working in direct care, you could interact with a survivor any day just living your normal life.
Trafficking survivors and victims are not always easily identified. They could be of any race, gender, socio-economic class, occupation, or age. A common misconception is that most trafficking victims are kidnapped and then held hostage while they’re being trafficked. In our 20 years of working with survivors of human trafficking, we know that trafficking rarely happens in this way.
Survivors often are able to blend into a crowd. They are unlikely to identify as a victim of human trafficking. This means you could interact with them anywhere: at school, at work, in the grocery store, at the movies. Anywhere you and your family might go, they could be there too.
The Importance of Trainings
Training our community to know the signs of human trafficking and best practices with serving those affected by it is so important to serving survivors well. If we have a community that is aware of human trafficking and knows how to identify it, so many more survivors could be identified and receive the services they need.
Each of our community trainings are given by our Training Coordinator with The Willows, Russellé Pratt. Russellé has direct care experience with survivors of human trafficking. She is a certified Northeast Ohio Trainer and will equip you to serve survivors of human trafficking with us today!
