Women Accept Christ at Drop-In

Experiencing the fruit of daily Bible study is truly inspiring — and we recently got to witness one of these inspiring occasions at our Canton Drop-In Home!

One of our volunteers was teaching about heaven from the book of Revelation when a staff member felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit, causing her to wonder how many of the women in attendance knew God or had a personal relationship with Him.

Our staff member asked the volunteer to share what it truly means to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, and the volunteer obliged with a humble heart.

After hearing the Good News about Jesus, and how His Spirit is available to us, three women accepted Christ!

A staff member summed up this joyful experience perfectly:

“This makes working at the Drop-In so worth it! Witnessing Christ move in such a radical way … I left the Drop-In overwhelmed with how great a God we serve!”

How great a God we serve, indeed! We at RAHAB are grateful for a God who seeks and saves the lost … as well as for your partnership with us as we strive to share His perfect love with the vulnerable.

Praying for RAHAB

There is power in prayer. And God has heard and answered in miraculous ways — big and small — for 20 years!

As Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor in vain.”

With these words of King Solomon at heart, we would like to boldly ask you to add RAHAB to your prayers — because without Him, we cannot prosper.

Please pray that:

  1. Our friends would humbly acknowledge and accept the grace He offers them,
  2. Our friends find stability and liberation in all areas of their lives,
  3. They would be motivated to reach their goals.
  4. Our staff and volunteers are able to pursue intentional relationships with all the women and youth we serve,
  5. We would be strengthened by God — seeing and serving our friends like Jesus does.

Each prayer lifted to God creates a powerful impact on our ministry and the lives of survivors. Thank you for linking arms with us in this way — joining our mission to serve trafficked women and children in Ohio and beyond.

20 Moments for 20 Years — #6

Christina has a special message for you as we continue celebrating 20 years of life-changing moments in survivors’ lives.

As one of our current Program Specialists in our Drop-In Homes — and someone who has been connected to RAHAB for those 20 years — Christina shares what a blessing it is to see the Lord work in the lives of the vulnerable … and how women and children are able to find help, support, rest, and a “home away from home” as they grow and flourish in Christ’s love.

Joy Jar Moment

Healing is never linear. Success is not a straight line to the top. It is hard work with detours, roadblocks, and moments where we feel like all is lost.

But the women and youth we serve are resilient! They are passionate, strong, courageous, and kind. Most of all, they are hopeful — pushing through the most challenging circumstances. Survivors to the core.

Nothing is more exciting than seeing them claim their victories!

Share in our excitement and be encouraged by some of our team’s most recent Joy Jar Moments:

  • Four of our youth are graduating high school! They worked so hard to catch up, maintain good grades, recover their credits, and stay in school. One of these girls has been getting all A’s and B’s this semester!
  • A young adult we serve is transitioning from minor programming to adult programming to continue her journey of healing and restoration!
  • One of our friends came back after having left programming for a time, saying she “wants to do it right this time.”

These are only a few of the many significant victories we see all the time, and we are proud of the hours of hard work, determination, and bravery that went into each of these accomplishments.

RAHAB is grateful to be able to walk alongside these women and youth … and we are thankful for your prayers and partnership as we advocate for them together, watch them grow, and celebrate their achievements.

    Staff Highlight:
    Tami Mobley,
    Victim Advocate

When Tami Mobley’s church friend was looking for volunteers to assist with a safe house opening, Tami couldn’t have imagined that her own involvement would eventually lead her to a career of joy, passion, grit, and even some tears…

Tami has been a member of RAHAB’s staff for 1.5 years now, and she has loved every joyful and difficult moment of it!

“I love getting to watch God’s grace wash over someone. I’ve seen souls restored … a rekindling of hope … Those are unforgettable and life-changing moments!”

What Tami loves most about her current position is the “small, yet mighty” team of women whom she works alongside. They share each other’s burdens and complement one another’s strengths and deficits.

And while she loves the chance to use her God-given problem-solving skills in her position here at RAHAB as a Victim Advocate, she has learned that any accomplishment is simply evidence of God working through her. Abiding in Christ is a necessity in this line of work:

Tami’s future at RAHAB is bright! She looks forward to further building relationships with our Law Enforcement partners who are on the Summit Regional Human Trafficking Task Force — serving Summit, Stark, Medina, and Portage Counties and their respective Prosecutor’s Offices. She also hopes to continue her education and practice in serving victims of Labor Trafficking with the Task Force.

We appreciate the dedicated work that Tami and all of our volunteers and staff put in each day to serve women and youth affected by human trafficking. Join us in a round of thanksgiving for the impactful Kingdom work they are doing!
